The Christ Generation

In the book of Matthew, we see that God is fulfilling His promise to Abraham; that, “through Abraham's descendants, God will bless all of the families of the earth.” Genesis 26:4. Two thousand years after Adam and Eve, God revealed himself to Abraham. Then two thousand years later, God the Father sent Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of mankind; thus, fulfilling the covenant with Abraham, and also, fulfilling the law of Moses.

Now, two thousand years later, we await the second coming of Christ; when Jesus will reign on Earth for a one-thousand-year period, called the millennium. The generation that will see the second coming of Jesus is called the Christ Generation. This previously hidden Christ Generation will now appear on earth as a witness to the second coming, according to God's word.

For the past two thousand years, no other generation has fulfilled the qualifications to be called the “Christ Generation,” but this generation certainly does qualify, and for many reasons.

He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

The New Testament was written in Greek. The greek symbol for Christ is X, which is the first letter in the name Xpistou, which means Christ. Not coincidentally, God being sovereign over all, the name Generation X was coined shortly after Israel became a nation in 1948 A.D. This has been passed around by societies ever since; until recently, when it has become a household word - worldwide.

Also, not coincidentally, another generation has become prominent, which will be the successor of Generation X. You guessed it - Millennials. Scripture says, the “X Generation” will not pass away before the return of Christ. When Christ returns, he will reign on earth for a millennium. Is it simply coincidental that both generations are present on earth today? Some would say that this is a confirmation of the fulfillment of end times scripture. Some would call this a prophetic sign. Jesus told us to watch.

He who has eyes to see, let him see!

Mark 13:28-34 (RSV)

28  "From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near.

29  So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that he is near, at the very gates.

30  Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away before all these things take place.

31  Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

32  "But of that day or that hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

33  Take heed, watch; for you do not know when the time will come.

34  It is like a man going on a journey, when he leaves home and puts his servants in charge, each with his work, and commands the doorkeeper to be on the watch.

Matthew 24:14 (RSV)

14  And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, as a testimony to all nations; and then the end will come.

Lord Jesus, let the Christ Generation rise up in every nation, tribe, and tongue, and proclaim your good news in unity and love to this generation. To the glory of your holy name! Amen and Amen.
